Materials

Yarn: Scheepjes stone washed in Beryl, Black Onyx and Moonstone

2.25mm crochet hook

Stitch marker

Toy stuffing Tapestry needle

Embroidery floss in black

Scissors


Stitches used

St, sts = stitch, stitches

Sc = single crochet

Inv dec = Invisible decrease (Insert hook into the front loop of the next 2 stitches, Yarn over and pull through both front loops, Yarn over and pull through both loops.

Join = Slip stitch into the 1st stitch


Notes

Join the end of every row. Size will vary due to yarn thickness and hook size. This pattern uses US crochet terminology




Body

R1: Using Yellow (Beryl), 6 sc into a magic ring. Join. (6)

R2: Chain 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join. (12)

R3: Chain 1, (Sc, 2 sc) 6x around. Join. (18)

R4-R5: Chain 1, Sc in each st around. Join. (18)


*Finish the last stitch on R5 in black (black onyx) before you join.



R6: Using Black, Chain 1, Sc in each st around. Join. (18)

*Finish the last stitch on R6 in yellow before you join.

R7: Using Yellow, Chain 1, Sc in each st around. Join. (18)

*Finish the last stitch on R7 in black before you join.

R8: Using Black, Chain 1, Sc in each st around. Join. (18)

*Finish the last stitch on R8 in yellow before you join.

R9: Using Yellow, Chain 1, Sc in each st around. Join. (18)

*Finish the last stitch on R9 in black before you join.

R10: Using Black, Chain 1, Sc in each st around. Join. (18)

*Finish the last stitch on R10 in yellow before you join.

R11: Using Yellow, Chain 1, Sc in each st around. Join. (18)

Stuff.

R13: Chain 1, (Inv dec) 6x. Join. (6)

Fasten off leaving a tail, using yarn needle to pull tightly through final stitches to close completely. Weave in end.


Wings

R1: Using Yellow (Beryl), 7 sc into a magic ring. Join. (7)

Fasten off leaving a tail and sew on the middle black stripe on the body.




Using Black embroidery floss, Embroider the eyes. Eyes are embroidered on row 4, 7 stitches apart.
